HNBR sealant is designed to perform at higher temperatures than standard NBR sealant while maintaining resistance to petroleum-based oils. Obtained by the hydrogenation of the nitrile copolymer, HNBR fills the gap left between NBR, EPDM and FKM elastomers, where high temperature conditions require high tensile strength while maintaining excellent resistance to engine oils, acid gases, to amine/oil mixtures, to lubricating oxidized fuels. HNBR can operate in temperatures between -30°C and +150°C (-20°F and +302°F). A carboxyl group is added to significantly improve NBR abrasion resistance while maintaining excellent oil and solvent resistance.
