Why have an LPG cap?

The search for more comfort and more freedom in their movements today leads many motorists to equip their petrol cars with an LPG engine, which designates an engine running on liquefied petroleum gas. This engine is a component of the kit to be installed in the car, which also includes a tank with a special cap. The latter is an essential part of the kit that you cannot do without. What is an LPG cap used for and why do you need it? Find out all about this cork here.

      

The roles of the LPG cap

As mentioned above, liquefied petroleum gas refers to a fuel composed of propane, butane and gases resulting from petroleum refining. It is highly flammable, volatile, and is stored in the tank in a liquid form available at any LPG petrol station. For all these reasons, it is very important to use specific caps so that the tank is very well protected. Indeed, the strict regulations set up by the public authorities around the LPG tank require you to have the right cap. Not only is it very useful, but its possession is mandatory during the technical inspection of the vehicle. In general, LPG caps allow:

  • To properly contain the LPG fuel in the tank in order to avoid any gas leak which could prove extremely dangerous if this happened;
  • To prevent impurities, external liquids and other dirt from entering the filler neck;
  • Carry out a hermetic closure of the LPG filling system

                   

Where to get LPG caps?

LPG caps for LPG cars are available from certain approved installers or from specialist suppliers. It is also possible to order them on our online store www.piecesautogpl.fr. However, prices may vary from supplier to supplier.
